The Franklin County Coroner’s Office says an official determination hasn’t been made but they’re believed to be the remains of Katelyn Markham of the northern Cincinnati suburb of Fairfield, Ohio.

The initial find spurred investigators to canvas the area, eventually turning up even more skeletal remains they believe could belong to Markham.

' Cans, bottles, broken glass. And to sit there and really look for something about the size of your fingertip was just incredible,' Dave Rader, director of Ohio's EquuSearch chapter told WLWT . ' You never know what you could find that could hold that key,'
